A relative is getting married next month. She asked that I have something to play on a phonograph for the walk down the aisle. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can find on 78 with short notice?

I played the Wedding March from Mendelssohn at my daughter's wedding. The record is Bibletone Wedding Tunes 91. There is Wedding March from Wagner on the other side. I'm sure there are other labels as well that have this recorded.

the traditional tune played when the bride walks down the aisle is Wagner's "Here comes the bride" march. And the Mendelssohn march is played when the bride and groom leave the church.

Bride might have to change her name to Melinda, tho.

May I suggest, "The Wedding of The Painted Doll", as recorded by Scrappy Lambert. It's by far the best version of the song, and the most wedding worthy. I'll provide a link to a digital transfer of it if you wish.

And then there's Always, which was written by Irving Berlin as a wedding gift for his wife. There are solely instrumental versions of this, though I personally don't own a copy (any longer). Beautiful, heartfelt tune.
