What is so special about this test pressing?
Recently the test pressing pictured below was sold on eBay. The price it went for caused my eyebrows to rise! Is there something super special about this v++ condition test pressing or did bidders get carried away as sometimes happens.

A Okeh test pressing of an original Hot Five recording is not only rare but very desirable by jazz collectors worldwide. These recordings have been in print continuously since their issue until now, and are the most famous set of recordings by Armstrong. The price looks commensurate with its fame.

It's kind of like having a 1958 Corvette, versus a factory prototype 1958 Corvette.

Yes. Nice condition commercial Okeh Hot Five records aren't cheap either, but I don't think any normally go beyond the three figure range.CarlosV wrote:A Okeh test pressing of an original Hot Five recording is not only rare but very desirable by jazz collectors worldwide.
