Gracyk's "Victrola & 78 Journal" available online

Post by PeterF »

I was poking around and found this page with links to all issues of Tim A. Gracyk's 90's (paper) hobby magazine, Victrola & 78 Journal, viewable and downloadable as PDFs from archive.org:

This may have been shared here earlier but I'm too lazy to check. (Nor Czech, for that matter; leave THAT to Dr. Valecnik!)

There is a lot of material in there, mainly on records and music, but also with hardware tips and misc other stuff. At the time Tim had access to a huge multi-year bound library set of Talking Machine World magazine, the big trade journal from back in the day, and he copied lots of ads and other material from it into his li'l magazine...so it's visually interesting too.

There were only a few editions made, but it was pretty good for its time and is still a useful and fun read today.

I still peruse my old paper back issues from time to time. I enjoyed the various 'Most Played Records' lists that readers submitted. Some people who follow 78's and cylinders on YouTube must have noticed Gracyk's channel : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCyZn_a ... 7Enu52TWGQ
