Edison DD collectors all know the music of band leader B. A. Rolfe. I happened to look up his bio on Wikipedia and discovered that before leading a band, he had a go as a movie maker. His films are all silents of course made in the teens and up until 1921. The biggest star he ever directed was Harry Houdini in a series of shorts. I think he only recorded records for Edison, then in the later 30s he hosted the Ripley's Believe or Not shows.
