19700 was recorded in mid March of '25, the beginning of the electrical period at Victor. I would doubt all of Victors studios were even set up with the new WE equipment yet.

Electric and acoustic catalog numbers were intermixed and you will find electric, electric, acoustic electric and so forth up the system. !9626 electric,19627 19628 19629 acoustic,19630 electric,19631 acoustic. The new york studios did not switch over to electric till the summer of 1925..Camden almost at once.Pathé Logical wrote:But remember, not every Victor record with catalog number 19626 or above is an electric recording. For example, neither side of Victor 19700 is recorded electrically. My copy of 19700 has the batwing-style label, and "VE " in an oval is not present on either side.doublemike wrote:First official electric was 19626.

So, Victor #20023 - Fred Hamm & His Orchestra, SUGAR FOOT STOMP,
from my searching, looks like the first Victor to use the VE
on the label?
