I've been shopping in my own boxed up hoarder's stash of 78s again and found this. Can anyone top it? It's the only gold print version of this label style ever issued, too. No. 606 of 1000 pressed.

Best part is... it's a one- owner record.

I'm pretty sure the Rhino Jukebox Classics sets were issued later, probably 1989-1990. Those were on vinyl.

Also, the Beach Boys had a 78 release on vinyl for record store day a few years ago.

Is the Sinatra/Dorsey 78 shellac?

Rhino Records was selling sets of 78 rpm records to be used in vintage jukeboxes at least as late as the end of the 1980s, possibly much later.

I think the .MOST recently pressed 78 was Jack White/ TMR ‘s reissue of the 1st Elvis recording in 1954 (the one Jack paid 300K for ) for record store day in 2015....it was cut at 45 RPM too I have both

I wouldn't mind owning that Dorsey / Sinatra disc, but my guess is that it's cut from the same source as the Dorsey / Sinatra RCA / BMG collection it comes from, which is to say it's heavily filtered. The original Victor 78's of that stuff sound very good, arguably better than the earlier of the Columbia Sinatra (solo, post Dorsey) sides. I haven't found any really good CD / LP transfers of the Victor sides.

There's actually a series in active, if somewhat sporadic, release right now: Rivermont Records, a little label devoted to modern recordings of traditional jazz and ragtime, periodically issues releases on 10" vinyl stereo microgroove 78s. The most recent release was a couple of months ago.

I don't know what went on with Columbia after about 1941... quality really seemed to suffer. The Harry James sides on 1939- 40 Brunswick and Columbia are great if you can find the original pressings which isn't easy. The late 1940s- 1950s Columbia reissues that put "Featuring FRANK SINATRA" first on the label are quite poor pressings by comparison.
