Hi, recently bought a Cinch record with Billy Williams on one side and Jack Jeffries on the other. I had never heard of him and Google searches for "Jack Jeffries" don't come up with anything.... Anyone know about him or was it someone else under a stage name ?
Thanks

It's a comedy song called "the Cheeky Mouse" like a music hall song.

It looks to have been a pseudonym.

I googled Jack Jefferies and "The Cheeky Mouse," and came up with this:

Composer: Weston/Barnes/Scott, Work: The cheeky mouse Weston/Barnes/Scott, Performer: HARRY FAY (as JACK JEFFERIES on Cinch), Date: 11-9-12

Catalogue: Kelly
Performer: HARRY FAY (as JACK JEFFERIES on Cinch)

Head: o
CatNum: X-2-42898
Num: y 15638e
Date: 11-9-12
Title: The cheeky mouse
Composer: Weston/Barnes/Scott

SEE: http://charm.kcl.ac.uk/discography/sear ... Y%20FAY%20(as%20JACK%20JEFFERIES%20on%20Cinch for a more complete list of Jack Jefferies Cinch recordings.

Hope this helps,

I think I know the origin of the pseudonym- around the time of the record boxer James Jeffries had a notable match with Jack Johnson.
