in Recordsmith's record auction paper which I get from time to time they had cylinders.I won a copy of Marie Dressler singing "Rastus,Take Me Back".It's on Blue Amberol,and I've been wanting to get a BA copy.I have it on wax Amberol,but it has a crack,so I don't dare play it.I play a tape copy my late friend Arthur Pare gave me.He had it,but it got destroyed when his parent's house burned in the '80's.It was a Blue Amberol.Jerry Donnell also had "Rastus" on the Blue.edisonplayer

Rather a bit Risque' for an Edison Cylinder of the period... A story about a woman who is a Drunk and Overly Promiscuous...being thrown out of her house by her Husband/Boyfriend Rastus...and trying to get back into his good graces... lol..

A great cylinder... I've seen the title before, but never heard it all the way through...A strange cylinder...Mostly vocal speaking 95% and singing 5%... kind of reminds me of some Uncle Josh cylinders.. I guess that the cylinder was marketted under "Comic Sketch"... What else would it have been sold under....?....

I'll have to see if I have it in my collection...

I have yet to Catalog my collection of almost 400 Blue Amberols.. I'll get to it someday... and it will be fun of the gems I will find..

I finally got the time and strength to Catalog all of my 250 2M and 4M Albany Indestructibles a few years ago...Glad that-that one is finally done..

Edison Collector/Restorer

I found the copy that Arthur gave me that was in the fire.The grooves melted off from the heat.If it were a wax Amberol it would have melted entirely.edisonplayer

I finally found and bought a copy of this great Marie Dressler BA, Rastus, Take Me Back. I would like to find a copy of Dressler's "He's my Soft Shell Crab Meat on Toast" (Not sure if that's the right title). It's rare because it's only found on Wax Amberol, and was never transferred to a BA. I thought it was recorded by Uncle Vanya and uploaded to YT, but it looks like I'm wrong. Vanya's YT site is a great place to go to listen to some great recordings!
