George, Are all the blank issues considered "pirates"..?. If so, why would some have the lug dimple and Universal lease agreement on the reverse..?.phonogfp wrote:These are generally the earliest of the Zono "shield" labels. They came after the blank pirates and the Universal labels. I've seen these only on early number blocks and the earliest of the 9000 series.

I don't consider pressings with lease notices "blanks."gramophone78 wrote:

More to the point is the presence of handwritten titles in the 10,000 range. This may suggest that the different numerical blocks were recorded and pressed simultaneously (like early Edison and Columbia cylinder block numbering series), and not chronological except within the blocks themselves. I don't know for sure.

Then to make matters even more confusing....blank with no lug dimple or lease agreement..phonogfp wrote:I don't consider pressings with lease notices "blanks."gramophone78 wrote:

This group of discs were found together along with two block letter Universals (see attached and note one with no lease agreement on the reverse). A local lady found them here years ago. When she was diagnosed with cancer she contacted me to come and get them before she passed. I am glad to keep them safe.
