here is an interesting cylinder from 1921. Blue Amberol 4205 "La Chanson des Nids" or The song of nests, what ever that means. It is a clarinet duet and a type of music that is not quite Classical, but not quite popular either. It is salon music, which is abundant on Edison records, but has quite disappeared in today's music.

Quite nice! 19th century fantasy, emulating the sounds of peeping birds in a nest. Your neighbors must have appreciated it!

Very nice cylinder and 1A! I've wondered why Edison never used the gunmetal finish on other models.

Good sound for a dubbed cylinder, but why was the machine on the pavement (sidewalk in the USA) ?
Was it on it's way in or on it's way out ?

Most people play their machines indoors. I'm an eccentric who likes display and play my music in public. Hey! outdoors you get the neighbors smiling and waving at you as they drive by and you can share your music. Actually, I took it outside to get some better light for taking some pics as I'm considering putting it up for sale. I have two 1As. Marc.

I am considering buying a 1A if the sales I have lined up go well...marcapra wrote:Most people play their machines indoors. I'm an eccentric who likes display and play my music in public. Glad to see that light-classical isn't dead yet. It seems like it disappeared sometime in the 1920s or something.
Beautiful phonograph too!
