Interesting version of Frank Sylvano's name. His real last name was Lanalotti; like many Italian Americans of the day he wanted to Anglicize it, so he started by using his mother's maiden name of Sullivan at the beginning- obviously he must have used "Sullivano" briefly between "Sullivan" and settling on "Sylvano".

I edited my post with some additional info from some research.

Sylvano was pretty much an unknown outside of the Chicago era. He becae well known when he joined first Tom Geronovitch's (sometimes "Gerun") great and underappreciated band on the West Coast and then Isham Jones' great early 1930s band.

In both bands, interestingly enough, he was immediately followed by another vocalist / reedsman who would later become very famous in his own right- Woody Herman.

Interesting what you can glean from record labels sometimes!

Nice record- thanks for posting it.

Frankie Trumbauer was part of the Benson outfit. I have a copy of this record floating around somewhere. Thanks for the upload.
