Post by Valecnik »

in Celebration of the Norwegian National Holiday, 17 May, Edison Diamond Disc no. 59001 recorded in July 1916.

"Sons of Norway" is the most commonly used title of "Norwegian National Song" - The first national anthem . The song was voted as the winner after the Norwegian Society for Development had announced a contest in 1819 to write a new anthem of Norway. Henrik Anker Bjerregaard (1792-1842) wrote the text, while the melody was composed by Christian Blom (1782-1861)."Sons of Norway" was used as the national anthem until " Yes, we love this country came in 1864 .(wikipedia)
