5" Berliner No. 23 "By Thy Cold Breast" (Byron, Manfred)

Post by donniej »

Shipped half way around the world, I now have, and have repaired this disc. It's cracked but looks clean and there may not be another copy in the world anyway. I'm currently waiting on supplies to mold it and will then be looking for a home for it. Hopefully that person will also have other 5" discs to loan for duplication.

This is the ninth that will have been copied and will be available in the next week or two.

For those of you who have messaged me about this disc, the first copy was done de-molded yesterday and uploaded to YouTube. The video shows the disc and describes the restoration, the audio is the last minute. This is one of the cleaner spoken word 5" Berliners and I'm quite excited about how well this disc turned out!

The text of the poem is...

By thy cold breast and serpent smile,
By thy unfathom'd gulfs of guile,
By that most seeming virtuous eye,
By thy shut soul's hypocrisy;
By the perfection of thine art
Which pass'd for human thine own heart;
By thy delight in others' pain,
And by thy brotherhood of Cain,
I call upon thee! and compel
Thyself to be thy proper Hell!

Wow, I didn't know the Victorians had emo/goth poetry.
