Very interesting!

Regarding Caruso's and Presley's recording sessions I'll bet they were somewhat similar, with both singers at the top of their game: Caruso likely recorded each tune in no more than a few takes each, and I read that Presley's sessions typically were held overnight, with the finished product at the end. Imagine the money they brought in after recording "Over There"
and "Hound Dog!" All for a very short amount of studio time!
Nowadays an artist will take months or years assembling songs for an album, using several recording locations to stack innumerable tracks from large numbers of studio instrumentalists and singers.
Victor and RCA Victor Records certainly had a gold mine with these artists! :)
