Sing as we go - Gracie Fields

Post by richardh »

Here is UK recording artist Gracie Fields singsing on of her most popular songs from the mid 1930's. She was unusual because instead of talking with a "BBC" accent she played very much on her north of England accent. The song is "Sing as we go"

I have also posted a newspaper clipping about her taken from the Daily Mail in 1939. This was a chance survival as the newspaper in question was used to line an old trunk with. This small news item was on that survivng sheet!

I love ol' Gracie! Her comedy recordings are fantastic. I'm still hoping to find a copy of "The parties getting rough" one day :)
I'm always amused by the HMV cover featuring Gracie with her 157. Surely she would have owned a better model than that!
Thank for posting Richard.
