Dizzy Fingers and Canadian Capers

Post by antiquekid3 »

Anyone have these on 78s? I'd be interested in hearing them on a phonograph! If someone could make me a high-quality MP3 or whatever I can put on iTunes, that'd be fantastic! (if they exist!) Thanks!

Hi, I have "Canadian Capers" by Ben Selvin's Orchestra on Brunswick 2164, recorded November 1921. I'll try to make a transfer tomorrow.

Kind regards,

Bart

Thank you both! Excellent arrangements! I'm learning it on accordion right now and wondered what other arrangements sounded like. Thanks again!

Speaking of 'Dizzy fingers' on accordion, I have a green label Melotone 78 from 1934 (broken in half, the way I'd found it, but playable!) of Charles Magnante playing it. Lightning fast!

Just FYI, I'm pretty sure these exist on Victor Orthophonics by Zez Confrey, "Dizzy Fingers" does for sure (I played that the other day). I'll check out my Confreys when I'm home from work later and see if "Canadian Capers" is on anything I have. I'll be glad to transfer them this weekend if I can!

From a record that is broken in two but is otherwise virtually mint, here's Charles Magnante's 1934 recording of 'Dizzy fingers':
