I guess I need a refresher course. I have a small case Victor I in which the gears bind. I checked everything on it there are no burrs, the motor is super clean, and not a speck of dirt or rust. The motor goes a little bit, and the gears bind. You have to open the case to push the governor balls to get the motor running. I believe I started a thread on this subject a while ago. I fiddled around with the bearings, governor, spindle gear, etc. I know these motors are trial and error. If anyone has any tips to get the gears to mesh smoothly, I'm all ears.

Do you notice if the bearing holes are still round, or are they egg shaped?

I checked those. That was one of the first things I checked. I also checked to see if the governor pins were bent. They were not. Here is my order of working with motors.
1. Make sure the spring is wound down.
2. Check the governor pins, and bearings.
3. Check the gears to see if there is any crud or burrs on the teeth.
4. Check the play on the governor.
5. Check the the play on the spindle.
I think I covered everything. If I missed anything, let me know. I do know these motors are real finicky and a real pain in the butt to work on. However, I'm sure I'll find the right combination. If anyone knows any other tips, please post them.
