Period Vocalion Light

Post by Benjamin_L »

Does anyone have a period model Aeolian Vocalion with the record light linked to the lid support?

I'd really like to see how everything is connected together if it's possible.

Thank you.

Here's a few pictures.

I really think I'm missing something. (I see no way to connect the lid support to the hook.)

Jury rigging a way to connect them together is about my only option unless I can find another.

Thanks.

I've never seen one of these Aeolian automatic lights, but I like it very much.

It's difficult to tell from the photos, but it appears that the lid support (which I think is the gold-plated rod) enters the channel from below, is directed slightly rearward, then rests in a valley where the circuit is closed through contact with the horizontal steel bar stock. If that's the way this works, it looks like it's all there. You'd just need to attach one lead to the channel piece and the other lead to the horizontal steel bar stock.

If I'm mistaken about the operation, please straighten me out, and include an additional picture or two.

You're right, George the gold rod is the lid support.

I found the patent on google, but it wasn't much help for me.
