Easy fast fix for sticky DD reproducers

Post by Chuck »

Recently obtained a 2nd DD reproducer for use in my C-250 DD machine.

This reproducer is one which has the pivot at the rear being just a tad
tight when the screw is fully tightened.

So, instead of running it with the screw backed off half a turn
to keep it pivoting freely, I made a tiny spacer washer to put under
the screw head so it can be tightened properly, and also be
pivoting freely.

I used #30 gauge copper coil-winding wire, a very short piece.
Made a little circular "C" shaped spacer just exactly the diameter
to fit over the screw threads. It is about .010 inches thick.

Just enough so that the screw can be tightened down real good
and the pivot works right. A tiny few drops of sewing machine oil
in there, and this reproducer now lets the weight glide over
to the inside of the limit-loop when the stylus runs off into
thew runoff area of the record.

A really proper spacer for this would be a tiny, tiny hardened
steel washer just the right size. But the copper wire "C" spacer
works and is easy to make.

Good trick, Chuck. Will this work on the Amberola Diamond B and Diamond C reproducers?

Not sure Harvey. Don't own any of those, not familiar with them close up.

It should work on diamond reproducers.
