I've bought yesterday a nice Amberola 50 with mahogany case.
As it's a bit dirty I want to clean it: what's the best way ?
The original finish has also a lot of small cracks (craquele ?) and is a little discolored; can I polish it without losing the original finish ? What's the best way ?

Clean it using Gojo hand cleaner without pumice. Rub it in by hand or with a soft cotton cloth, and wipe off with a cotton cloth. If the crackels bother you, reamalgamate the finish with denatured alcohol and a paper twel soaked in it.. You can also pad on a new shellac finish overcoat, then de-gloss it a bit with lemon oil and 0000 steel wool. Touch up any areas with the appropriate stain before applying any shellac or reamalamating the surface.

Hi
A friend of mine in Melbourne gave me a recipe for cleaning machines. in equal parts, Metho, Turps, Raw linseed oil and red wine vinegar, I have found this to be an excellent cleaning solution for cabinets, I have also used it on motor boards.
Regards Marcel
