Need help cutting aluminium diaphragm

Post by chunnybh »

I have come across a batch of NOS aluminium diaphragms. They are 49 mm diameter and in excellent condition. My problem is I need them to be 45-46 mm diameter so they will fit an average reproducer. I have tried cutting them down using a rotary compass cutter but the process is risky and bends the edge of the diaphragm.
Can anyone suggest an alternative method?.

Honestly, I simply trim them to size using a pair of electrician scissors, the type with curve blades. The edges can easily be flatten out by applying pressure with a wooden tool on a hard flat surface, like a marble sill. There is no need of an extremely precise cut as the cut itself will be masked by the rubber gaskets, so I keep it easy.
