Tutorial - Copying a URL (Add a link to a page)

Post by melvind »

Copying a URL from your browser:

In the address bar at the top of your browser you can highlight the URL text and copy it as you would any other text on a website or anywhere on your computer. There are two ways to copy text that is highlighted on either a Mac or a PC. The right mouse button click on the mouse will bring up a menu that contains a copy command.

You can also use a key command to copy instead of using the mouse Copy command. Both methods put the text in the copy buffer on the computer.

Mac Hold down the Command key while pressing the C key
PC Hold down the Ctrl key while pressing the C key

Placing a copied URL string into a Post on the forum:

When you are adding or replying to a post on the forum you can paste the URL string into a post from your computer. The best way to do this in a Post is to use the URL feature on the edit screen in the forum. Look for it on the row below the Subject name. You do this by clicking on the URL button. It will insert tags into your page where you have the cursor. The cursor will then appear in the middle of the two sections.

You can then paste the string using either the right mouse menu and clicking on Paste or using the key commands.

Mac Hold down the Command key while pressing the V key
PC Hold down the Ctrl key while pressing the V key

The text you copied will then be placed between the and string in the edit window.

It will then show as a clickable link when your Submit or Preview your post.
