We have all seen this type of issue on the forum many times.

This occurs with almost all images that are taken using an iPhone. They will be sideways or even upside down. Until Apple corrects the orientation in images taken on their phones the only way to correct this is to modify the files on a computer. The following examples are shown using a Mac computer, but a PC should be able to accomplish the same thing with PC image editor programs.

Open the image using Preview on your Mac (the default should be Preview). The reason for doing this is to re-save the image to correct the orientation. Simply saving the file without changes might work, but I have found that making the file one pixel smaller works best.

From the Tools menu select “Adjust Size...”

This will bring up a dialog showing the original size of the image.

Change the size of the image by 1 pixels less than the original. This will correct the orientation and not really change the size of your image visually on the screen.

Click OK and Save the picture on your computer.

Now in the Forum page Delete the original sideways picture and add the modified one back in. It will show up with correct orientation.
