I have a Victrola IX that I am restoring and I am curious what most people do with the plating on the rim of the turntable? The plating on mine is in pretty bad shape. Do most people re-plate the edge or just buff it out and leave it as is?

I remove the rust and buff or polish it. When done right, it looks like dull, old nickel.
