Garrard 50 replacement spring measurements

Post by GabrielePfr »

I'm looking for a replacement spring for my Columbia 112, and I wonder if the measurements must be absolutely identical to the old one. I was told the spring for this motor is 25mm wide, and fully coiled it measures 74mm. Would a 70mm one suffise? I'm trying to find it a bit cheaper, that's why I'm wondering.

Thank you in advance!

A few mm either way won't make much difference, it will just mean the motor won't run for quite as long, but it should still cope with a 12" side without rewinding.
