Orthophonic needle bar stripped threads

Post by BillH_NJ »

The screw threads on one of my Orthophonic reproducers are stripped so that the screw just slides in and out. The reproducer is otherwise ok so I am looking for an alternative to replacing the needle bar. Is there a slightly larger screw that might work as a substitute?

There are certainly larger thumb screws out there. You’d need to find out what size it is and re-tap the threads on the needle bar.

I have spare needle bars, and ONE original Orthophonic thumb screw left. Removing the bar is intense and precise work ,but i am tooled up to do it.

I have plugged oversized holes with a brass plug and then drilled and tapped it.
