Cylinder machines no more slipping belt

Post by Herman »

Here is a tip to ensure there is no belt slip on your cylinder machines.
Some machines like the Edison Standard has a polished pulley that is not friendly to belt slip.

I cut a strip from a roll of fabric bandage or bandaid the width of the pulley groove.
Stretch the strip while applying to the groove. This will reduce the original thickness of the bandage. Do not overlap the ends. Cut at the correct length butting the ends to ensure uniformity.

Very clever. I had an Edison model that had cork on the pulley and thought that was a great idea.

I took a dot of Candle Stick-Um and used it as belt-dressing applied in very small quantities to the insides of the pulleys.
