I'm having some trouble with a reproducer on my Columbia AT, I'm getting alot of echo in parts and the sound isn't clear or constant, the stylus seems fine, at a glace, could this be a problem with the reproducer or with the machine.

The trunnion seems to be moving smoothly along when playing

Echo is usually a sign of a worn out stylus.

It's also possible to get some echo that's due to the record. This happens on some celluloid records (like Indestructables) that have shrunk over time.

Managed to get a photo of the stylus, seems alright, it's been rebuilt but sounds like it's playing two grooves at once

Make sure there's lateral play at the reproducer mount. Sometimes that area becomes stiff, but usually a little lubrication will set it right.
