I'm wondering if it is okay to use the Edisonic Reproducer on the older etched label diamond discs?
Thanks, Wayne

Probably fine. Just remember that the amount of weight
bearing down on the standard DD reproducer stylus
is approximately the same as that of a Baldwin
steam locomotive.

The Edisonics have a much heavier weight that's
approximately that of TWO Baldwin steam locomotives!

Thinking about general wear and tear on the
records, I'd imagine that it increases as maybe
the square of the weight increase. I'd guess that
if the weight is doubled, the wear increases by at
least a factor of 4!

So, my advise is that when listening with
an Edisonic, listen 4 times as hard because it's
probably roughly about the same on the record
as playing it 4 times with the regular weight.

I also think that back in those days they did not
really care much if a record wore out real fast
from being played with such excessive weight.
Just run down to the store and pick up a new
record when the old one wears out.

This is all just my hunch. The experts will
have their's too.
