How does the barrel shaft come out of the barrel/main spring on an Edison Home motor? Does it come out with the spring, then un-hook from the spring?
Thanks!

Yes, you must disconnect the spring from the hook on the arbor for it to pull out.

Ended up pulling the spring out with the shaft still connected. The arbor wouldn’t come unhooked because the spring is cracked fairly close to where the hook is attached through the spring and is binding/sandwiching it between the spring coils. Time for a new main spring.
