On - Off Lever on Amberola 30
I need some guidance how to tighten the stop-start lever on my Amberola 30. It will stop the mandrel from turning, but when I let go, it moves slightly and it begins turning again. I tried a while back to adjust it, but it seems loose again. Are there any ideas out there? Thanks in advance! Don

Hi Don,
This is a common problem. The solution I use is to take off the lever (it's just held on by one screw), and bend the top half of the lever so it slightly scrapes the side of the hole in the bedplate. You might have to experiment with it to get the angle of the bend correct. The friction will hold it in place.

Have you checked the condition of the leather on the stop? Sometimes putting a drop of oil on the leather will soften it enough to better contact the governor end plate. If the leather is too worn, might need replacing.
Just a thought.

I'll check that area too. A drop of oil is a good idea. Thanks!
