Motor Overwound, Pin sheered off, Can I Fix it?

Post by Ampico66 »

I have a pin that sheered off because somebody over-cranked a Victrola. I heard Victor designed it with this little safety. Can that pin be replaced and can the motor be fixed? What happened was the crank now has a little cylindrical piece of metal screwed to the end that has come out of the motor.

You should be able to easily push out the remains of the pin with a hammer and a nailsetter or something similar. Wyatt's, APSCO or Vollema all sell replacement tapered pins for about 1$. Make sure you install it from the correct side, the hole on one side of the gear is a bit smaller than on the other side, thus the tapered pin. Very easy repair.
