I recently purchased a bottle of Flitz Metal polish. I started taking apart my No. 2 Reproducer and decided to polish the back of the soundbox. Before I knew it, I rubbed the paint off. I'm trying to think of a way to get the metal to look like it did before I messed it up. Ideas?

Re: A little carried away
I've been doing some research and it appears that the black paint on a No. 2 reproducer is actually done with a treatment called black oxide. Apparently this is a chemical process that turns brass a black color. Does anyone have experience with this process?

There is a product that gunmakers use that is called Casey's Brass Black, I have used it to blacken screws, and other reproducer parts, I believe it can be purchased where black powder gun kits are sold, Hope this helps, Bob
