Braising? Business Phonograph Carriage Help!!!

Post by USlakeside »

Thanks to the violent USPS I had a tragedy in shipping and the carriage of my Business machine snapped off. Im doubting I will ever find a spare carriage and am trying to find out if someone out there is capable of braising this back together for a somewhat reasonable rate? Any help is really appreciated! Thank you.

I am assuming it's cast iron? If so then, yes, it can be brazed or even silver soldered. If someone here can do it then that's great. However, if not, I would take it to a welding shop and have them take a look at it. They will be much more open to helping you out if you have the broken pieces fixtured together so all they need to do is simply braze it. By "fixtured" I mean held in place by attaching to some rigid framework allowing access to the joint.
