Online Edison Phonograph Board: RIP

Post by Lucius1958 »

It appears that the OEPB has come to its end.

Cause of death: spam, and admins who don't care enough to maintain it.

Let us have a moment of silence.

Actually, the spam has now been removed from the Edison board. Looks like the moderator has returned. Even though it was annoying, it was only a few days, maybe a week. Unfortunately it was a very active spammer. I'll never understand what they are getting out of this?

I just visited the site and it's full of spam again.

Seems that one member, "layvygyl," is responsible. I'm wondering why they can't ban the member's name, and block their ispn, or the isp, itself.

It's a shame to see the Online Edison Phonograph Board go down, even if most of it's membership has gravitated to this forum.

I have deleted my account on there. Not enough traffic. Plus I have been spending more time on Facebook. I used to spend a lot of time on here, until Facebook. Now I spend more time there, because I see more traffic, plus I am a member of a couple of groups on antique phonographs, and 78 records. The other reason for leaving the Online Edison Phonograph Board, and spending little time on here, Is that most of the people on here when this board started have left, and I really do not know too many new people on here.

If you post an Edison question on the TMF it will usually be answered within a few minutes to a few hours... :D
