WANTED: S-shaped tube to complete VE 10-51

Post by Skihawx »

I am in need of the S-shaped tube that connects the horn casting to the dynamic driver.
The 10-51 I have was converted to play acoustically, using 10-50 parts, by the previous owner.
It was supposed to come with the parts that were removed. When picking it was discovered that many were missing.
That was many, many years ago, and I am down to the last piece. Any leads on 10-51 parts appreciated.

Jeff,

Why in the world would you think anyone would have one of these ultra rare VE 10-51 S-tubes available and if they did why would you think they would ever give it up?

Well, you may be in luck, but it would cost you.

I too have a VE 10-51 project I have been gathering parts for, for years as well. I first bought a Canadian version one that had the AP-952C (25 Hz) amp but the very rough cabinet was strangely cut horizontally in half about a foot down from the top. It otherwise was complete minus the all important horn dynamic driver. I later bought a beautiful near perfect original finish empty VE 10-51 cabinet with its ID plate. Unfortunately this empty cabinet was missing the horn and all the wood below the changer deck. Then even later I bought a beautiful near perfect original finish empty late model VE10-50 cabinet. It has the horn and all it’s wood parts so it would provide all I needed to complete the project. Though I still need that dynamic driver.

So now after completing functional restoration of six already complete VE 10-50s, and making some space from the sales of four of them, I am about to embark on putting my VE 10-51 project together. However after all this, I will just give it all up and sell you the part you need, but as I said, it will cost you. $500 for the S-pipe to be exact. I have well over triple that in the project, more than that in travel expenses, and would have a worthless VE 10-51 project without that pipe, hence my price.

I have a couple other VE 10-51 unique parts I would additionally be willing to give up at more of a reasonable price if you needed them. That would include the wooden front panel of the changer with its metal control plate, the complete wiring harness, and the massive wooden mount for the dynamic driver.

Let me know if you have interest..

-Wayne

PS I am wondering about the tonearm you have. The original VE 10-51 tonearm is one inch shorter than the VE 10-50 tonearm. I would think using the VE 10-51 with an open u-tube and an Orthophonic reproducer would come short of operating correctly. If the tonearm you have is the longer VE 10-50 tonearm. then using it with the electrical u-tube and the proper electrical reproducer would not work either, I would think. Hopefully you have both tonearm.

Wow, very nice that it has the AP-736 amp. The electrical crook is the same used on any Orthophonic style tone arm. Here’s some photos I can provide right now:

Well Jeff, another TMF member beat you to the punch, and bought my whole VE 10-51 project. I wish you all the luck in the world in obtaining that S-tube.
