Needs a new tone arm support, and rear drawers. Has the original hinges and escutcheons. I'm in the Atlanta area. Feel free to call or text me @(770)570-7855. I'm Chris.
I'm going to go ahead and list this unit on eBay as well.

I am almost 100% confident that I saw this machine on craigslist in Atlanta or somewhere further in the south for only $1000. Why the higher price?

You should feel 100% correct. I posted it to Craigslist, and had several questions regarding it. When I started to do my due diligence, I realized how rare these machines were, as well as their true value.

It is very rare and to me, one of the prettiest machines ever built. Rarity and beauty doesn’t always mean desirable or valuable, but if you were closer and I had the room I would be very tempted, not because of the rarity, but because I think it is a beautiful work of art. The large size is a bit of an issue to many, but it also provides lots of storage and nice flat surfaces to serve as a base for a couple small machines. Good luck with the sale.

Re: FOR SALE: Chippendale 500 - $3000
After reading and thinking about the previous replies, I know some would think it’s uncool of this seller to list at one price, then after getting some inquiries, ending that listing, and relist at a higher price (apparently on a different platform). Realistically, his initial asking price was ridiculously low. I would say he was in his every right to do this and I would think that we are all better off that he did. We don’t need the values of our machines and collections to drop any further due to someone’s ignorance about these rare machines value. Though I am holding off for the Gothic period model, I find the Chippendale highly ornate over other period models such as the Louis XVI. Just love the ball and claw feet. Good luck to the seller and I hope the new owner enjoys it for many years to come.

I believe it's around 1918. I'm posting another picture of the sticker in the cabinet behind the locked doors.

I have read that the "Period Style" Victrolas began production in 1918, the big console 500 series in 1920. The paper labels perhaps had but one printing in 1918 -bill

That is correct, the upright period models appeared in 1918. The wide period models were announced in 1920. They all used the same printed of the 1918 label.

So, I don’t believe there is any record by serial number when these were made other than info stating sometime between 1920 and 1924.
Here’s a video link of the Chippendale No. 500 serial number 527 that I had and sold a couple years ago. Mine was previously refinished and the one for sale appears to be of original finish.
