FOR SALE: Edison Gem C with 2&4 Gearing - $500
The Gem C is one of the more unusual Gems and I'm fortunate to have an extra one. The Gem C was originally a two minute machine but this one has the extra four minute gearing. It plays great and comes with a C reproducer. The price is $500. I am happy to offer free delivery to Union or APS but postage is at cost. It goes to the first person to PM "SOLD!". No horn.

How does it play on 4 min? I've always been curious if they had enough umph to get thru a 4min record!

If properly maintained and adjusted, absolutely. Edison would not have sold a machine that didn't play a whole record, or if they did - this would be an extremely rare model since nobody would have bought them.EdisonWizard wrote:How does it play on 4 min? I hear the C is thought to be more difficult to fined than the Gem D. I have a C and it plays a 4 min record just fine.

It plays fine through a four minute cylinder but with little to spare at the end. We usually have a family reunion around the 4th of July and I take a Gem B with additional gearing. It plays through any four minute cylinder with a full winding. Jerry Blais
