FOR SALE: Odd automatic stop for Edison Standard - $250

Post by TinfoilPhono »

This is one of the most interesting and oddball automatic stop devices made for an Edison Standard. A bracket clamps to the reproducer carriage with an adjustable screw to set the stopping point. A complex unit mounts to the motor frame in place of the original on/off switch.

For a full description of how it works, see page 90 in "Accessories & Contraptions" by Tim Fabrizio & George Paul. In a nutshell, when the record comes to the end the top bracket presses against the front part of a 2-piece lever, which then pushes a felt pad against the back side of the governor, forcing it to stop. The rear lever can be used in the same way as the original lever to stop or start by pressing a pad against the inside of the governor disc.

It's a very odd device but it works like a charm.

$250 postpaid in the US, Paypal accepted.
