For Sale: Resin Copy "Sugar Foot Stomp" Henderson - $25

Post by donniej »

There's a mint copy of Columbia 395D, Fletcher Henderson "Sugar Foot Stomp". It's a Buy it Now for $400. If 15 people are willing to prepay $25 +$5 US shipping then I'll pay for the materials and put it in production.

Anyone who's interested, please reply and I'll keep a list of those who are in.

Donnie J,

THIS IS MY JAM!

I said I "might" be interested in the Charleston...but I am TOTALLY ALL IN on the Sugar Foot Stomp. I don't have cash but let me get you paid--do I paypal?

Please, let's do this record! And, oh, I'd like mine in black w. replica paper label. Presentation is important too.

The music is lightyears above the quality of most old jazz records I find.

First we have to get 15 people in.
For $25 I can't do paper labels too (but can post a good pic of it to print from).

Ps. I do have a VG or VG- copy in my collection that I could copy if the one on Ebay doesn't work out.

$400 FOR a copy of 395D? Wow! Both sides are exceptionally good performances, but the record sold relatively well, and was reissued on red label from original stampers ( thought course the wartime red label pressings are rather noisy)

I agree that the price is absurd, but if 15 of us are willing to chip in, we can all have copies.

Alternatively, if someone here has an excellent condition copy that they'd be willing to loan then I could lower the buy-in threshold.

Bump!

Come on guys--these old Victor-Victrolas are spiffy in the corner of the parlor but they're even better with new records! And this might be the only chance we get at a record like this without having to put up with red-Columbia wartime static or 1930s rarity & high prices.

Let's do this!

I'm game, though it looks like we're a long way from 15.

I can attest to the quality of Don's work, having received four of his reproductions. I would be interested in this recording but balk at the seller's asking price. I really, really think we ought to wait until we can find a copy for a lot less money.

Thanks John!
The sellers price is certainly ridiculous. Maybe he'll lower it or maybe someone here will have a nice copy to loan for copying. As previously mentioned, I do have a VG copy and a VG+ copy has been offered for copying.
