WANTED: Edison Long Play 40 minute record

Post by apruizii »

I'm looking for an Edison 40 minute Long Play (LP) record (at a reasonable price) to complement the Edison 2-C LP phonograph I recently acquired.

Please send me a PM.

Thanks!

There have been a couple listed here recently, here's the first one I found...

donniej,

Yeah, I saw that link. I already have the 24 minute LP that sold.

Hopefully, someone has a 40 minute LP.

Thanks,

I assume what you want is a *playable* 40-minute disc. My sole "spare," so to speak, is one that looked ok until viewed under a strong light at just the right angle, at which point most of the grooves showed brown. A warning to all of us interested in such things: look out for that. The disc appeared fine when simply viewed under normal light in a casual sort of way.

Anyhow, if a purely "display" disc is what you want, drop me a PM.

Those records seem to all be worn... they didn't seem to hold up well at all. If you do find a playable one, I'd see if Donnie can get some buyers together for copies and buy a couple for yourself to actually play.

drh pretty well outlined the hazards of trying to buy any you can't look at first.

gramophone-georg,

I had no idea the Edison 40 minute LPs didn't hold up very well. I guess I'm lucky my sole 24 minute LP is in very good condition.

Thanks for the feedback! The hunt continues

I've owned both. Maybe it's just me but it seems the 24 minute ones didn't wear but every 40 min. one I've seen (maybe five altogether) had wear issues.

gramophone-georg,

Wow, sure sounds like I'm going to have a tough time finding a decent 40 minute LP.
