Wanted: Tone arm and possibly reproducer for Victor VV-IX

Post by MesaMike »

Working on a basket case Victrola. Somebody subbed a larger tonearm from a console and glued an unknown model of reproducer to the end of it...
Trying to put it back to right.
At the very least I need the tone arm and the 3 mounting screws. A rebuildable reproducer would also be nice.

There were many variations of the Victrola IX. They were made from 1911 until around 1925. A serial number will give an idea of what you need.

I have a Victor tonearm. I can get measurements tomorrow since it's in the basement.

I’ll try to remember to measure the tone arm measured tomorrow. Remind me if I forget!

Hopefully somebody has one of these. It is just shy of 7" from the back of the mounting plate to the center of the large screw. The base fits into a mounting hole about 1 15/16" in diameter.

I think I've got that tone arm in my parts bin back home. We're in Hawaii for a few more days and I'll check when home. ( feel free to remind me if I forget... to many tasty drinks with the little umbrellas.) Jerry

Mike,
To clarify, is this the picture of the tone arm you need, or the one that needs to be replaced. I don't believe I have ever seen a IX with the unsupported arm (no overhang support)? I have a tone arm and bracket with overhang support that is probably what you need. I'll check when I get home tomorrow.

The picture is of another Victor VV-IX. It is possible that it has the wrong tone arm...
