SOLD: Columbia Cylinder Player Green Lid and Base - $225

Post by Bluefish1257 »

For sale is a green Columbia lid and wooden base. This is a nice lid and base. There is evidence of a paper label on the inside of the lid. The base has the four screws with it.
Price $225. Shipping in the US is $20. Shipping in the US only.
PayPal friends and family preferred.
Thank you.
SOLD

Hey Eric-

This is not a refinish gone bad. Rather these are relatively rare Model Q's made with a special all green finish. I once heard that the reason for these finishes is that Columbia supplied them to public libraries. Not sure if that's the reason for the special finish, but it's totally legitimate. Plus, it's a steal at $225.

Here's a picture of mine for reference.

Enjoy and Good Luck with the sale Bluefish1257...I would think that it would sell quickly.

P.S. If you are going to own a Q, why not make it special?

This is pretty awesome imo. I've seen a few of these online and Columbias seem to stay "greener" than Edisons, but that's just been my experience. I've had Edisons where, when the bedplate is removed from the case, the wood is much greener where it wasn't exposed to light. It begs the question: just how green were they new? I honestly think green oak was vivid green when new, and seeing how short lived the finish was, I think a room full of it would have looked bizarre. Note: I'd love a room full of green oak furniture :D

Wish I hadn't sold my Q, I'd be buying this!

I have seen a few green Qs and they are really green. Has anyone seen other Columbia models with the green finish? Jerry Blais
