FOR SALE: Harry James/ Sinatra Debut 1939 Parlophone $150

Post by gramophone-georg »

Here's a super clean copy of Frank Sinatra's July 1939 debut recording with Harry James' Orchestra, "From The Bottom Of My Heart" (Brunswick 8443 in USA) on contemporaneous purple Australian Parlophone A7478. Flip side of this issue is "Got No Time" with a Bernice Byres vocal. (This same coupling also appeared on Japanese "Lucky", also a Brunswick subsidiary label. Considering the original Brunswick didn't sell well in USA- only about 8,000 copies sold, mainly on the East Coast- it's puzzling why this would appear on Parlophone and Lucky at the same time... but these were the days when record companies often "hid" successes of the day's recording artists and tried to make dud recordings into hits in faraway markets... without paying royalties! This was one of the abuses leading to the Petrillo recording ban of 1942.)

So- here's your chance to snag a very sought- after recording for a fraction of what the Brunswick goes for... of course, you don't get "Melancholy Mood", also with a Sinatra vocal, that was the flip side of the Brunswick... but this is a great record and a superior pressing to boot that you won't regret owning.

Visual E+, plays as new with fantastic fidelity.

$150 plus Media mail shipping in USA- overseas please inquire.
