WANTED: Victrola springs

Post by aledg1982 »

Hi all,
I am restoring a Victor Victrola Motor
I degreased with petroleum all the gears that were stuck with hardened grease, I opened carefully the barrell with my pathologist's gloves and helmet :) and one of the two springs has broken.
Could you please help me finding a new one?
You can see the motor in the pictures.
I saw on ebay a lot of springs but I don'tknow what fits into my motor.
Thank you!!

Ron Sitko is the one to call.

You should probably replace both springs at the same time, for best results.

This motor takes 2 - 1 ¼" wide, 18 ½ feet long Victrola springs with pear shaped holes at each end. The arbor diameter is ⅝".

As mentioned above, Ron Sitko is an excellent source for springs. He will know exactly what spring you need.

Have fun! Cliff

Exactly, I found them!! Thank you very much.
Unfortunately, when I removed the springs I did not note down their direction... I read on the forum that the wing near the main gear must be clockwise and the other one counter clockwise... can you confirm that?

Thank you.
