Here's a pic... you get the mold, pot, straric acid candles, ceresin and aluminum sttearate. There's enough chemistry to make quite a few cylinders.
The ceresin is from the same company that Edison used.

I would love to try this and have more blanks to use at the museum. If it is still available, please let me know.

If you decide you wouldn’t mind shipping it I wouldn’t mind paying for it!

For those of you outside of the Philly area, here's what you need....

A pot to melt the waxes in
Ceresin
Stearic acid (ikea smokeless dripless candles)
Aluminum stearate

For the mold-
A mandrel
A piece of 2x4
A hole saw
A mandrel
A piece of exhaust tubing

Use the hole saw in a drill press and run ¼" - ½" into the 2x4. The middle (pilot) hole is for the mandrel. The outside area cut by the hope saw is for the exhaust tubing (2" or something like that). This is the mold.

Melt ingredients and heat to 450*F so the air can escape and the waxes temper. Reduce to 350*F and pour. The recipe I started with is below.

Cylinder "brown wax" formula 1
Al stearate - 8.5 parts
Stearic acid - 4.5 parts
Ceresin - 2 parts
Melt together. Heat to 450*F or 230*C and allow to cool by 100*.
Then mold.

I would absolutely love to take this off your hands. It would be amazing to make a cylinder then record on it!! I'm near Trenton so could easily come get.
