Found another spare one of these in my spares last night. I played this on my 8-8 with a loud tone steel needle and a copy of Jean Goldkette's "Clementine" on scroll (a LOUD disc and a fantastic tune!). No rattles, shakes or anything. This has never been touched, but the bearings are tight and right. The back has a split ring as the photo shows. The nickel plating is nice and clean and should shine up nicely. Play it as is, although I'd probably replace the flange if I were going to use it regularly.
