For Sale: Fairy Phonograph Lamp: SOLD!

I will never get around to this project and would rather see it go to someone who will do something with it. I don't want to ship it, but can deliver for free to the Wayne show at the Saturday parking lot sale. Please look at the photos and ask any questions, please. I am happy to send any additional photos you might want.

This is way out of my range of experience. I have seen the posts about some wonderful restorations done on these machines.

It seems complete (except the lamp shade) and even has two old tipped light bulbs that still work.
I will entertain offers and prefer to sell here instead of on Ebay.

I have not tested the motor, but I will if someone can tell me a safe way to do that. The cord is pretty scary looking!.
Thanks!
Dave D

"I have not tested the motor, but I will if someone can tell me a safe way to do that."

The easiest and safest way to test the motor is to disconnect the original wiring from the motor, cut the outlet end off of a modern extension cord, keeping the plug end and use that as a temporary pigtail. Split the cord at the cut off end and strip the insulation back on each wire, then attach the two wires to the motor, using the original wiring as a guide. This way you have a direct connection to the motor and have bypassed the old wiring and the old switch. That will provide a safe connection to plug into your home outlet to try it out. I can't remember if you have to remove the motor from the urn/base to access the wiring, but you definitely have to remove the turntable...

By the way, does the lamp switch work, or haven't you tried it?

Thanks for the tip, Curt. I have not plugged this in at all, so nothing has been tested. I will try to do that in the next few days.

This could also be delivered to the Stanton Auction in November.

How much did you let it go for?

Ouch! I don't know the particulars but hope the first responder was given a fair opportunity. As a seller on the Forum is can occasionally be difficult. I ask for a PM or email and sometimes I open one before the other but try to see which was first. In other instances I've received phone calls while away from my laptop. I try to respond to the first person but it can be convoluted. Jerry B.

The problem occurred when the seller stated he was entertaining offers. I made an offer and don't know what happened either. If you want to sell it, state a price and the first to offer buys it.
