FOR SALE: Edison Oak Amberola 1A phonograph $3400

Post by marcapra »

I am selling my oak Edison Amberola 1A in excellent condition with a Diamond A reproducer.
It comes with a Diamond A reproducer for playing 2 and 4 minute celluloid cylinders, such as blue Amberols and Indestructibles. Motor board is finished in Gunmetal. Machine can play two and four minute celluloid cylinders, but would require an L or M reproducer for playing wax cylinders. Drawers include original clips for holding cylinders. Will come with at least 20 cylinders, but not necessarily the cylinders shown in the photograph.

Cabinet and horn are in good shape, as well as the mechanism and reproducer. Drawers and inside storage door have a darker finish than the outside of this machine. This Amberola 1A looks and sounds great! Call Marc with questions at 951-331-1941.
Importantly, potential buyers need to know that only a couple of years ago, the motor was completely gone through, including new springs. Dwayne Wyatt of Wyatt's Musical Americana did the work, which is not a simple (nor cheap) task, with those very large and powerful springs."

Will ship freight at buyer's expense.

I owned this one before Marc, and although I'm sad to see my friend let it go, I wish him the best of luck on the sale.

Importantly, potential buyers need to know that only a couple of years ago and just before I sold it the motor was completely gone through, including new springs. Dwayne Wyatt of Wyatt's Musical Americana did the work, which is not a simple (nor cheap) task, with those very large and powerful springs.

Marc, you might want to add that to your listing.

Thank you Peter for that addition! I will add that to the description in the ad. I am very reluctantly selling this beautiful machine, but I'm trying to raise some money to finish an antique Desoto restoration. If it does not sell, I'll be happy to keep it as Mike Sorter and others have urged me to do. I should also say that I spent $100 for NOS antique, turn of the century(c.1900), hardwood casters, and replaced the worn out Feltoid casters that were on the cabinet. Rolls great now without the metal hubs on those Feltoid casters scratching your hardwood floor. Marc.
