Wanted: Columbia 5A motor Spring (barrel?)

Post by kirtley2012 »

I've got a columbia portable which I'm saving from the scrap, someone in the past overwound the motor and seems to have really deformed the spring, so I'm looking for a new spring, or spring barrel, or whole replacement motor, can't put too much money into it, but just seeing if anyone has anything in their parts pile, I've a motor I could take some springs from but it's a shame to take apart a complete motor

What have you got to loose by reshaping the spring to wrap snugly around the shaft, as it should? If there's no other spring issues it's actually a common problem and common repair.

True, I'll give it a go tomorrow, I believe there's a bit of damage that a small file should put back to shape
